On 16th June we hosted 10 construction and architecture students from Texas A&M University. Balfour Beatty and the university have built a partnership over the past few years to raise awareness of construction careers in the UK for overseas students, and on this occasion were able to visit one of London’s largest regeneration projects.
They received a site induction before learning more about the project and local area through a presentation from our Community & Stakeholder Specialist and Health & Safety Advisor. We then took them on a tour of the site where they spoke with various other Balfour Beatty team members and Kane’s project manager to learn more about activities on site and our prefabricated mechanical, electrical, plumbing and heating modules that are currently being installed.
The students were engaged throughout asking lots of questions and told us that they had learnt a lot throughout the visit. We hope to see more students from the university next year to continue to build on our relationship.
We received feedback after the visit saying: “We want to thank you and everyone at Balfour who helped make this day possible. The students thoroughly enjoyed getting to see the sites and ask questions about the construction. This added great educational value to our program. Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you in the future!”
