On Thursday 22nd April Earth Day will be celebrated globally with this year’s focus on ‘Restoring our Earth’.
Spread over three days starting on the 20th April there will be a series of global events targeted at preventing the coming disasters of climate change. If you would like to find out more details about these events and how you can take part, you can access the website here.
On the Lewisham Gateway Project we will be taking part in some initiatives to promote the message of Restoring our Earth through some of the activities below:
- Promoting the day to the whole workforce with a poster campaign around site
- Encouraging team members to measure their carbon footprint using the WWF Footprint Calculator and thinking about how they can reduce it
- Making an Earth Day commitment which will have a positive effect on Restoring the Earth, such as not leaving appliances on standby or taking public transport instead of driving
- Getting involved in a company-wide photo competition to promote environmental good practice
If you are interested in measuring your carbon footprint and understanding ways you can look to reduce it, the link to the WWF calculator is here.
