On Friday 20th August, two Balfour Beatty summer placements from our central Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability (HSES) function joined us at Lewisham Gateway Phase Two for the day with the aim of increasing their understanding of a live project site.
Luke and Rob were first given a site induction to ensure they understood the site rules, before getting kitted out in their Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for a site tour. Once back in the office our Community & Stakeholder Specialist and Health & Safety Advisor delivered a presentation about HSES practices, issues and initiatives on site to develop their understanding of how these can vary from project to project. Luke and Rob then met other members of the team and some of our sub-contractors to discuss the different roles and trades on the project and how they all fit together.
We had a great day showing Luke and Rob around the project and are looking forward to welcoming other work experience students later in the year.
